Evidence-Based Therapies in Our PHP in Carlsbad
CBT is a type of talk therapy that identifies and disrupts unhelpful thoughts and beliefs. This allows clients to directly address the mental health challenges of substance abuse and other disorders.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
DBT targets emotional regulation through storytelling, metaphors, and confrontation. It combines cognitive and behavioral therapies.
EMDR and Trauma-Responsive Care
Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is a type of trauma-responsive therapy designed to help clients reprocess the trauma at the root of mental health issues. Latitude includes EMDR in our trauma-responsive care.
Individual Therapy, One-on-One Counseling & Treatment Planning
In your therapy sessions, you will receive one-on-one counseling. Your treatment plan will prioritize your values and goals.
Group Therapy Sessions Focused on Insight, Skills & Community
Latitude’s PHP includes group therapy sessions for peer support and community building. During these sessions, clients focus on developing skills to aid in wellness outside the recovery facility.
Family Therapy and Support (Client-Led)
Clients have the option of including their family members in their care. Family involvement is recommended by Latitude for lasting recovery. Our clinical team can support you in determining whether this decision is right for your care.
Medication Management & Psychiatric Oversight
Latitude offers medication management for your ongoing care. Our psychiatrists will oversee medical prescriptions.
Experiential Modalities and Life Skills Development
Hands-on activities allow individuals to explore and process emotions and develop skills related to their addiction in nontraditional ways. At Latitude, you may experience:
Art therapies such as painting, drawing, or music therapy.
Outdoor activities like hiking or equine therapy. These are hosted every Friday.
Drama therapy helps individuals achieve therapeutic goals, such as acting out personal stories or interacting with others.
Relapse Prevention, Stress Management & Emotional Regulation
The above modalities comprise a mindfulness approach to recovery. Through them, clients reprocess thoughts to change negative thought patterns and behaviors, begin to forgive and release pain they’ve experienced, and reinforce healthy coping mechanisms through the development of emotional regulation skills.

How the Admissions Team Supports Families and Calling Loved Ones
When you contact Latitude with concerns about a loved one, our admissions team will listen and follow up with your loved one for care.
